The ultimate stealth e-road bike, with hidden electric power assistance at the touch of a button, when you need it most. With its range and market-leading weight, you can climb faster and ride further whilst experiencing less fatigue than you ever dreamed possible. Sharing the same DNA as the high-performance Endurance SL series results in a bike that gives you a significant performance boost to get you over previously unimagined mountain passes, keep up on hilly group rides or smash that ride that took you outside your comfort zone. Make it possible with the Endurance SL e.

E-Road Bike of the Year Winner

Fully internal cable routing and compatibility with the LEVEL 5 carbon integrated handlebar system offers a super-clean, cable-free front end with up to 40% drag reduction when compared to a traditional handlebar and stem.

The lightweight MAHLE SmartBike Systems 36V/250W hub-drive motor system provides three levels of smooth power assistance up to a maximum of 15mph, with near-zero drag in off-mode. Ensuring your ride feels as natural as a modern high-end carbon road bike.

To preserve the high-performance carbon road bike looks it was necessary to secure a slimline and lightweight Panasonic 250W battery that would fit discreetly within the downtube. A battery that would reach maximum capacity when fully depleted in just 3.5 hours and is capable of providing, on average, up to 60 miles of assistance over variable terrain.

An advanced Toray T800/T1000 monocoque construction and full EPS inner core system delivers consistent strength and unmatched torsional stiffness. The aero-efficient tube profiles provide 28.5% less drag than traditionally shaped framesets. Designed with dropped seat stays for additional comfort and improved power transfer.

An easy-to-use, top-tube mounted control button enables the power assistance level to be selected whilst on the move, and indicates the amount of battery charge remaining.

    Frequently Asked
Do I need to pedal to ride this e-bike?

Yes, our e-bikes are pedal-assisted models and require rider input at all times.

I’m worried I won’t have full control over the bike.

There’s no need to worry; being a pedal-assisted model means you are always in full control. When a power assist level is selected, the motor simply provides a little extra boost whilst you pedal and does not take over.

Do I need tax, insurance or a licence to ride the e-bikes?

No, pedal-assisted electric bikes do not require you to hold a valid driver’s licence, pay any road tax or take out insurance.

How do I charge the battery?

To charge the battery, you simply plug the bike into a household socket using the supplied charger and cable. (The optional range extender can also charge the main battery whilst you are on the move).

Can I ride this in the wet?

The electric components used on our e-bikes are IP54 rated. They can be used in inclement weather conditions and are protected against splashing, but not against full immersion or when subjected to pressurised water from a hose pipe or jet wash. When transporting the bike outside of a vehicle, a waterproof cover should be utilised to protect the electronic components from water damage during such transportation. As with any bike, we would recommend thoroughly cleaning and drying the bike after any wet weather rides to maintain the peak performance of your bike.

Can this bike be purchased on a Cycle to Work scheme?

Yes, all e-bikes can be purchased through all the major Cycle to Work scheme providers. The government have even abolished the £1000 limit making obtaining an e-bike through Cycle to Work more beneficial than ever.

Is it possible to test ride the bike?

You can test ride any of our e-bikes and receive expert buying advice at our flagship Clitheroe showroom. Please contact the showroom in advance so that we can ensure that any suitable bikes you wish to test are available for your visit. During the summer months, we also host demo events across the UK. For details of the dates and timings of these events, please refer to our events page.

Alternatively, you can hire the e-bike from E-Venture Bikes in Keswick; the rental cost will then be deducted from your purchase should you decide to buy one of our e-bikes.

How much does the Endurance SL e weigh?

Builds start at 11kgs, the Sport build with Shimano Tiagra weighs in at 12.4kgs, and the Enthusiast build with Shimano 105, 11.95kgs.

What electronic drive system does the SL e use?

The SL e has been built around the Ebikemotion X35 system.

Can I alter the assistance levels of the motor system?

Yes, you can cycle through 3 different assistance modes (which can be configured further in the app) or choose to have the motor turned off completely, all at the press of a single button.

    How does the motor work?

The SL e’s motor system is 'pedal-assist', which means that the motor supports you when you pedal the bike.

How fast can I go on the SL e?

The SL e’s motor system will power you until you reach 15mph, at which point (by law, and as with all e-bikes in the UK) the assistance will cut out. If you drop below 15mph, the system will automatically kick back in with assistance if required.

What is the range of the SL e?

The battery range of the Endurance SL e depends on a number of factors, including rider weight, route profile and temperature. A rider of 90kg on a varied route including climbs, descents and flats using the low power setting can expect an average range of up to 60 miles. An optional range extender is also available for all of our e-bikes, which effectively doubles the bike's available range.

Can I go faster than 15mph?

Yes, and with builds from only 11kgs, you often find yourself above this speed. The motor will only assist you up to 15mph, and for speeds above this, you will be relying on your legs.

What if I get a puncture in the rear wheel?

It is simple to disconnect the rear wheel from the frame by unclipping the connector on the chainstay and releasing the nuts on the rear axle. Then reconnect by clipping the cable back in, inserting the wheel and tightening the nuts.

What is the warranty on the electric bikes?

The frame has a 3-year warranty against manufacturing defects. All other parts are covered by the manufacturer's standard warranty. The MAHLE system is covered against manufacturing defects for a period of 2-years.

    Can I fit mudguards?

Yes, the frame is compatible with full mudguards thanks to its integrated mudguard mounts.

What is the maximum tyre width that the frame can accommodate?

The Endurance SL e is suitable for tyre widths up to 32c without mudguards, though this depends upon the model/brand of tyre fitted. With mudguards fitted, the bike will accept 25c tyres.

What type of riding is this bike best suited for?

The Endurance geometry of this frame is best suited to comfort and efficiency over longer distances on road, as well as an aid to climbing. If you're going to be riding off-road often, we would suggest the CGR AL e which has the same Ebikemotion system.

How many bottle cage mounts are there?

Each frame size has mountings for 2 bottles.

Does the frame have fittings to allow a rack to be mounted?

No, the frame does not have rack mounts incorporated. For an e-bike with rack mounts, see the Hybrid AL e.

    Is it Di2 compatible?

Thanks to its internal cable routing, the frame is fully compatible with electronic groupsets.

How long does it take to charge the battery?

From fully depleted, the battery takes 3.5 hours to reach full charge.

Do I need to remove the battery to charge?

No, the charging port is accessible easily on the outside of the frame.

How will I know how much battery I have left?

The button mounted on the top tube indicates the remaining battery life at a glance using a simple colour code. White= 75% capacity or more remaining, Green= 50-75%, Orange= 25-50%, Red= 15-25%, Slow Red Flash= 10-15% and Rapid Red Flash= 10% or less remaining. You can also keep track of the remaining battery life using the Ebikemotion companion app.

Is there an app to use with the system?

Yes, the motor system’s companion app is compatible with both Apple and Android OS and offers a full suite of functionality, from monitoring your exact battery life to pairing the system with a heart rate monitor and having the motor kick in at a specific BPM limit.

How does the SL e’s weight compare to other E-Road bikes?

The SL e is one of the lightest e-Bikes currently available. As reference points, the Pinarello Nytro is 13kgs; and the Orbea Gain is 11.3kgs.

Is the battery and /or motor replaceable?

The battery is accessible by removing the bottom bracket. The motor is also easy to replace.

Are the brakes flat mount or post mount?

The brakes are the most current flat mount variant.

What plug sockets are supplied for international orders?

Our SL e-bike is supplied with a 3-pin UK adaptor.

Will the battery be chargeable in the USA as a different voltage is required? (also applied to other countries)

Yes, bikes shipped to the US are equipped with a drive system that offers a higher maximum speed and includes a US power cable. Though charge times may vary from those stated for the UK.

How do you charge the battery?

You charge the system via the charging port that is easily accessible on the top of the bottom bracket shell.

What is the life expectancy of the battery?

The battery can reach up to 500 charging cycles while still retaining up to 90% of its capacity as long as its care and maintenance are adequate. For maximum efficiency, it is important to maintain a battery charge of between 20-80% of its total capacity. Charging the battery to 100% from fully depleted is one complete charging cycle. Similarly, topping up the battery from 80-100% capacity five times amounts to one complete charging cycle. If you are not using your bike for a period, you should always ensure that it is stored in a dry environment (out of direct sunlight) with a charge level of between 40-50%. Every two months, the bike should be charged fully. Take care not to leave the charger connected to the bike continuously; doing so could accelerate the degradation of battery life. Ideally, the charger should not be connected for more than 5 hours. Use only the original MAHLE charger supplied with your bike.

    What BB does it take?

The Endurance SL e takes a press-fit style of BB, Shimano builds require an 86.5x41 BB and Sram a BB86.

Where does the additional battery mount/plugin?

The additional battery comes in the form of a bottle and is supplied with its own bottle cage. This replaces the seat tube mounted bottle cage (this cannot be mounted on the down tube); the charger then plugs into the charging port on top of the bottom bracket shell.

Is the bike supplied with pedals?

Due to the many different systems people use we do not supply pedals with bikes but you can find a great array of pedals here.
